SWORDSMAN
The narrator, a pilot who never pursued the arts, never appears in the book since it's told from his perspective. I wanted him to have a similar social status to a pilot of that time, so I designed him as a swordsman/samurai.
THE PRINCE
The little prince is described as an extraordinary small person with hair that is the colour of gold.
There are many illustrations in the book so we have a handy visual guide ready. He is simple yet elegant!.
LIFT OFF
The prince departed from his home on a flock of birds. Personally i wanted to explore how the sky/ planet system would look since it was not explicitly described in the original book
I wanted to establish this high tide/low tide system. Just like the ocean.
As he lifted off with his kite, he visited other residents, each with their own unique homes. How odd! They were so grand yet so isolated.
Asteroid 325
ASTEROID 325 is inhabited by a king. His character is reimagined to be that of a ruler who cowers behind the giant bunraku puppet. Such a big man in a small room, what exactly does he rule over if not just that tiny space?
Asteroid 328
ASTEROID 326 is inhabited by a conceited man who demands nothing but praise. I reimagined him as a kabuki performer who demands applause from the little prince. His home is a giant floating stage, waiting for adoring fans to visit.
Asteroid 328
ASTEROID 328 is inhabited by a businessman who counts non-stop. As rice was used as the main form of currency, the asteroid is reimagined as a rice mill who is owned by a greedy merchant.
The walls are reinforced with abacus-like structures.
The little prince leaves for his last stop: Earth
Here he befriends a fox,
finds a man who wields a blade,
and meets a serpent who promises to bring him home
